Space for Democracy at Schaltzeit

Schaltzeit is one of 1,000 places offering space for political debate ahead of the German federal election.

Migration, migration & migration? Certainly a relevant topic – but not the only one shaping our future. Which questions and challenges do you feel are getting too little attention in the election campaign debates? What moves you? In our “Space for Democracy,” you are invited to discuss your questions about the future ahead of the election.

As part of the “Spaces for Democracy” campaign by the Federal Agency for Civic Education (Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung), we are opening a space for lively on-site discussions next week. Our focus is on a genuine exchange of views instead of polarizing slogans. To give constructive debate a little boost, we are providing our Debate Tangram.

Bashing biceps or dialogue muscle: the way we debate is a matter of practice, and it is crucial for a successful shared future. The Debate Tangram helps you reflect on arguments and integrate different perspectives. Together, we use it to train constructive dialogue in a playful way.

In our projects at Schaltzeit, we deal with questions about the future every day. That is why we care about fostering dialogue on shaping the future together in our democracy and providing a place for genuine exchange – away from headlines and campaign rhetoric. Drop by:

Shaping the future democratically thrives on debate.

We look forward to seeing you – provided you are genuinely interested in a nuanced exchange of views! You can find the link to the campaign and an interactive map of all spaces here!
