2006 – what was that again? Well, there was the “summer fairy tale” – and Schaltzeit was founded. On March 27. Exactly 15 years ago.
On the one hand, a short time of euphoria that we like to remember; on the other, the beginning of an ongoing adventure. Every day brings something new, in terms of content and above all in our encounters with our partners, none of whom is just a “business friend.”
The joy of developing new ideas and meeting curious people connects us all. We like what we do, and we like even more the people we do it with: ALL OF YOU. Well, at least ¾ of you. 😉
This is no fairy tale, but a story we want to keep writing with you. A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who helps shape it.
We’re 15. What a number. 3×5!
- at 5 you lose the start-up vibe, at 10 the maturity hype,
- at 15 I’d rather not know – we’re too old, and no one will miss us when we go,
- we wait to be reborn, or for the devil to come and take us.
Many of you still confuse foresight and ideation with fortune-telling, crystal balls and tarot: “Tell me what the future holds! Tell us what to do.” In tarot, the number 15 stands for the Devil. Maybe we’re in league with him? Goethe already recognized that this partner has quite a bit of potential, too: freely adapted to us, he wrote:
“[I am] part of that power which
always seeks progress and sets debate alight. …
I am the spirit that always unites!
And rightly so; for all that comes to be
deserves to perish utterly;
so better it would be if nothing came to be.
Thus all that you call sin,
destruction – evil, in a word –
innovating is my true element!”

In that spirit, we are proud and say thank you once again – with cheap rhymes instead of philosophy:
To all our partners out there in the world: if your plan is too wild to be tamed, Schaltzeit’s the name to be named. Though modesty may be the norm, we’ve earned respect in every form.
Join in, everyone, and let the glasses ring, as of Schaltzeit together we sing. Here’s to us. Here’s to life. May it give the world – and us, too – the very best.
