More and more actors are taking up the idea that there is not one single, linear future, but many possible futures that we should think about, talk about, and debate. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Just last week, this year\u2019s Communication Congress of the Bundesverband der Kommunikatoren (the German association of communicators) was held entirely under the motto \u201cfutures.\u201d Berlin\u2019s Futurium bears the subtitle \u201cHouse of Futures\u201d and has been showcasing the possible diversity of ideas about the future since it opened in 2019.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

NATO research director Florence Gaub\u2019s 2023 bestseller <\/span>Zukunft \u2013 eine Bedienungsanleitung<\/em> may have \u201cfuture\u201d in the singular in its title, but between the lines it repeatedly makes clear that she advocates thinking in alternatives. At conferences such as re:publica, talks about futures in the plural have long been nothing unusual, and in the ARD podcast <\/span>mal angenommen<\/em> the question \u201cWhat if?\u201d is at the heart of things.<\/span><\/p>

Not all of this relates to approaches from futures studies, but one thing matters most to us: think about your ideas of futures \u2013 whatever the topic, be it political issues, your organization, or other areas of interest.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
