In the first edition, we talk with Thomas Stark \u2013 lead developer of our jointly developed software application PEACOQ \u2013 about the future of software development through 2035. He explains how automation, artificial intelligence and quantum computing will boost productivity and open up creative possibilities, but also what challenges arise from increasing system complexity and security threats. He also gives an outlook on the PEACOQ roadmap and looks back on the past few months.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

What futures do you see for software development?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

<\/i> Thomas:<\/strong> As a software developer with more than 36 years of experience, I look at the future of programming through 2035 with mixed feelings. The world is becoming more demanding. We need to learn to outsource routine tasks to AI so that, in addition to the performance, design and security of applications, we are also ready for the new requirements.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tOn the one hand, I\u2019m excited about the possibilities that automation, artificial intelligence and quantum computing have in store for us. Tools that write or optimize code for us will massively boost productivity and let us focus on more creative and complex problems. Low-code and no-code platforms will make programming accessible to a broader audience, leading to a democratization of software development.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBut for all the progress, I also see challenges. The growing complexity of systems, especially in decentralized and distributed environments, requires us developers to keep learning and adapting. Security will remain a key issue, and I fear that the threats posed by cyberattacks will become ever more sophisticated.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe ethical responsibility we bear as developers will also increase significantly by 2035. We need to be aware that our work can have an enormous impact on society, especially when we develop or implement AI-based systems. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

At the same time, it\u2019s nice to have \u201cco-developers\u201d on board in the form of virtual colleagues who can scale complex code.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

What did you work on in the first half of the year?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

<\/i> Thomas:<\/strong> In developing the PEACOQ platform, we focused primarily on AI integration and linking. We created an AI interface that lets us connect AI models like ChatGPT directly.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tOn the one hand, this means we can make any input field AI-enabled and store tested prompt jobs for it; on the other hand, we can now hand data maintenance tasks over to the AI. It can then develop scenarios, for example, or check whether signals fit into certain search fields.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t

What are your plans for PEACOQ in the second half of the year?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/i> Thomas:<\/strong> We want to integrate even more AI-supported quality management into work processes. To that end, we\u2019re turning our ideas into further prototypes.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

We\u2019re planning to integrate a chatbot, which means it will be possible to interact with existing content in the future. In addition, speech-to-text integration will let us interact in natural language. This template-based system is designed to be adaptable to different fields of application and will make full use of the potential.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

We are also expanding PEACOQ\u2019s team features. This means team entries, including permissions, can be edited jointly. The new @mentions feature makes selection easy and enables cross-references within the platform. Team members can assign rights and roles themselves and have a team workspace where they can store data.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We want to take the display of links to a new level, capturing different effects and directions. The network graphic will also be interpreted.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
